A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FOR ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST

A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FOR ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST

Foundation for Faith & Fellowship

More Than A Construction Project

By renewing and preserving our sacred spaces, we are creating a welcoming and enduring place where faith, fellowship, and community can flourish for generations.

St. John the Baptist is already a parish shaped by reverent worship, generous hospitality, and a deep sense of community. The buildings do not create that spirit… but they can help it flourish. Building Our Future is an investment in spaces that better support worship, formation, fellowship, service, and the continued growth of the parish.

THE WORK MAY BE PHYSICAL.
THE PURPOSE IS MUCH GREATER.

“That is why this campaign is about much more than buildings. It is about creating a parish home that reflects the warmth of our community, preserves our unique Ordinariate mission, and gives future generations a place to encounter Christ.”

A Foundation for Faith & Fellowship

At St. John the Baptist, parish life does not end when Mass does. It continues through shared meals, conversation, formation, service, and the friendships that draw people more deeply into the life of the Church.

Building Our Future will strengthen the spaces where that life unfolds. A renewed parish hall will provide a more welcoming home for fellowship after Mass, parish meals, faith formation, children’s catechesis, adult education, meetings, celebrations, outreach, and personal encounters.

By caring for the physical foundation of our parish home, we are helping the spiritual foundation of the community continue to grow… creating spaces where faith can be taught, shared, celebrated, and lived.

Our buildings do not create this spirit.
They can help it flourish.

“We came for the beauty of the liturgy, but we stayed because of the hospitality.”

Addressing Important Needs

The spaces that support parish life are showing their age. Aging building systems, accessibility limitations, and outdated facilities now affect how St. John the Baptist welcomes guests, hosts events, supports ministries, and serves parishioners of every age and ability.

AGING INFRASTRUCTURE

Much of the parish house lacks air conditioning, while the aging steam heating system requires significant annual maintenance.

SAFETY & STEWARDSHIP

A deteriorating roof and asbestos-containing materials must be addressed to protect both the building and those who use it.

ACCESSIBILITY

There is currently no wheelchair-accessible ramp, and existing bathrooms and circulation create unnecessary obstacles.

TODAY’S CHALLENGES REQUIRE MORE THAN PATCHWORK.
THEY REQUIRE A PLAN BUILT FOR THE FUTURE.

“Through these renovations and improvements, we will strengthen our ability to welcome newcomers, foster fellowship, and preserve the beauty of our parish for generations to come.”

The Master Plan

Building Our Future is designed as a phased approach… beginning with the immediate work required to protect the parish house, then transforming the spaces where parish life happens, and ultimately pursuing a long-term architectural vision that visibly expresses the faith and future of St. John the Baptist.

Phase 1:    Protect the Foundation

Addressing immediate infrastructure needs

Phase One focuses on the essential work needed to improve safety, protect the parish house, reduce the burden of aging systems, and create a solid foundation for everything that follows.

Projects

  • Central HVAC for the parish house
  • Necessary asbestos abatement
  • New roof for the parish house

Phase One Goal: $720,000

Phase 2:    Transform the Experience

Creating a more open, accessible and welcoming parish home

Phase Two transforms the way parishioners and guests experience the building… improving accessibility, expanding gathering space, increasing functionality, and creating an environment better suited to fellowship, formation, and parish life.

Projects

  • Updated building entrance with accessible ramp
  • New bathrooms adjacent to the meeting room
  • Expanded parish hall with higher ceiling
  • New corridor connecting the hall to the meeting room
  • Wood paneling along the kitchen wall with patrimonial symbols

Phase 3:    Raise a Visible Expression of Faith

Looking toward the long-term vision

Phase Three looks beyond the immediate renovations toward a landmark and visible expression of faith… strengthening the architectural presence of St. John the Baptist and proclaiming confidence in the parish’s future.

Projects

  • Tower restructuring, steeple and narthex
  • Church side entrance redesign

What We’re Building Toward

The goal of Building Our Future is not simply to complete a list of renovations. It is to create a parish home better equipped for the life already flourishing at St. John the Baptist… a place where people can worship, gather, learn, serve, celebrate, and grow together for generations to come.

WORSHIP
Spaces that support reverent worship and the sacramental life of the parish.

FELLOWSHIP
Room for meals, conversation, celebrations, and relationships to grow.

FORMATION
A parish home better suited to catechesis, education, meetings, and ministry.

GENERATIONS
A foundation prepared for the families and parishioners who will follow us.

BUILDING SPACES FOR WHAT MATTERS MOST...
THE LIFE, FAITH, AND FUTURE OF THE PARISH.

“We want to do our part to build a future where our children and grandchildren, and countless others, encounter Christ and form lasting memories of the Catholic faith.”

Questions About Building Our Future

Understanding the campaign, the plan, and what comes next

A project of this scope naturally brings questions. We want parishioners and friends of St. John the Baptist to understand not only what is being proposed, but why the work is needed, how the campaign will move forward, and how their support will make a difference.

Below are answers to some of the questions we expect to hear most often.

Our buildings do not create this spirit.
They can help it flourish.

“Together we can make St. John the Baptist a place where people encounter beauty, find belonging, and build a parish home that future generations will be proud to inherit.”

What is the Building Our Future campaign?

Building Our Future is a capital fundraising campaign to support renovations and improvements to our parish home. It is to ensure that our physical spaces support the spiritual life and growing mission of the parish.

Why are we raising money for renovations?

By renewing and preserving our parish home, we will provide a welcoming and enduring place where the beauty of our faith can be shared for generations.

Why now?

These improvements are practical and urgently needed to reduce the burden of aging systems, improve safety, protect the building, and create a solid foundation for everything that follows.

What are the goals of Building Our Future?

A safe, accessible, comfortable, and beautiful parish home communicates welcome. It tells visitors that their presence matters. It shows that the parish is oriented toward growth and the future.

How do these improvements fit with our current financial needs?

Caring for the future of St. John the Baptist requires us to address both our day-to-day needs and the long-term stewardship of our parish home. After consultation with our pastoral and finance councils and the Bishop, we determined that these priorities must move forward together rather than one at the expense of the other. The Phase One improvements address essential building needs while also reducing the rising costs of repairs and maintenance. Ultimately, these improvements should save the parish money. This is not an either/or decision. It is a responsible investment in the stability, sustainability, and mission of our parish.

What is the timeline for the renovation project?

Building Our Future is a multi-phase, multi-year plan. Phase One began in July and should be completed this fall. Phase Two will begin within the next five years dependent on funding. Phase timelines are subject to regular revision based on current needs and costs.

How do I support Building Our Future?

Every gift—large or small—will help preserve our heritage, improve the experience of members and visitors, and prepare the parish to fulfill its mission for generations to come.
